SCAM ALERT

  • Remain alert: Please disconnect calls received where the operator acts under the identity of law enforcement personnel regarding "legal matters," demanding forms of payment or personal information. Immediately report it to the Sheriff's Office directly at 770.619.6500.​

  • A common script may go like this: "Hi ma'am this is [**Impersonated officer rank/name**] with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's office. I'm calling in regards to a very important legal matter. It does require your immediate attention. Please give us a call back at [**numbers varies + extension**]. Again this is [Impersonated name] and I can be reached at [** non-sheriff office number**] Thank you."

  • The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office will never call you to request funds of any amount to satisfy an arrest warrant.

​​

  • The Sheriff’s Office wants to emphasize to all citizens that an approved bonding company will never call and ask to receive funds of any kind over the phone to complete the bonding process.
