MESSAGE FROM SHERIFF KEYBO TAYLOR

GCSO

Sep 9, 2024

News Release

(Gwinnett County, Ga., September 9, 2024) – As Sheriff of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, I have directed members of the Sheriff’s Office to take proactive measures to incorporate school and neighborhood safety efforts for our most vulnerable population. Gwinnett County is home to the largest school system in Georgia, with over 140 schools and approximately 180,000 students.

As an additional action, I have also directed all nonessential personnel to support the Gwinnett County School Police and any other law enforcement entity. To deter acts of violence, we will increase law enforcement presence by conducting routine area checks at schools, events on school campuses, and public gathering sites.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work alongside our law enforcement partners and community stakeholders to combat bullying and gun violence against our youth through some of the initiatives we have in place. We encourage all Gwinnett County residents to report any suspicious activity to our tip line at 770.619.6655.
